As a voice teacher / music educator For the last six years I have been teaching private lessons to voice students of all levels and ages. I taught in different conservatories and music schools both in the US and abroad, and currently teach in my private studios in Brooklyn, NY and in Boston, MA. I enjoy working with a diverse group of students, some complete beginners and some advanced students, all of them working towards different goals. My personal belief is that a student should be commited and focused during the learning process, but also enjoy the road! Voice lessons teach us a lot about our body, our habits, our shortcomings and our strengths. Aside from private teaching, I spent the last couple of years taking part in a community outreach program that introduced young audiences to vocal jazz. This work included planning and performing a musical program that is fun, educational and sparks the children's interest in the art. Growing up in a musical family, Tammy was first introduced to jazz music in high school, and started performing professionally at the age of 18. Influenced and encouraged by the instrumentalists she worked with, Tammy absorbed their approach to improvisation and composition and embraced the freedom of instrumental jazz. Later she attended Rimon School of Jazz, and was captivated by the contemporary jazz sound for the first time. Inspired to search for her own personal voice, Tammy decided to move to the United States and look for new musical challenges. After being offered scholarships from the New School of Music, Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory, Tammy chose to attend the latter, where she studied with Jerry Bergonzi, Jerry Leake and Dominique Eade. She recently graduated with honors, and moved to Brooklyn, NY. |
